Erin’s story is one of resilience and determination. As a survivor of domestic violence for 5 years, she's emerged as a passionate advocate, leader, and mother of seven. On the cusp of graduating from WLAC with degrees in Sociology, Communications, and Addiction Counseling. Erin dreams of furthering her education at CSUDH or UCLA to pursue a Doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy. Beyond academia, Erin's achievements are equally impactful. She serves as a case manager, supporting individuals grappling with mental health and substance abuse disorders, while also running her own business, Electronic Motivated Enterprise. Additionally, Erin holds a vital position on the Los Angeles Crime Victim Advisory Board, channeling her experiences into advocacy and support for others. Erin's journey embodies resilience, compassion, and an unwavering dedication to making a difference. Her story serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration, demonstrating that through perseverance and determination, one can overcome adversity and create positive change in the world.
Mayra is an 8-year survivor of domestic violence. She is most proud of being able to secure steady employment as a DART (Domestic Abuse Response Team) Advocate, helping women and teens who are seeking support in violent relationships. Additionally, it brought her great pride to have been able to secure her own housing and being able to do this all despite being undocumented. Her dream is to use her voice and story to continue to bring awareness about Domestic Violence. She is overjoyed to sit on the board of the Purple Monarchs, where she feels empowered in the community. Her dream is to secure her US Citizenship, learn to drive, and to help victims of Domestic Violence in Tijuana and help them to secure asylum.
